Police Arrest Four National Level Swimmers for Gang-Raping Nurse

On Tuesday, Bengaluru’s Sanjaynagar police have charged four national swimmers in a gang-rape case after the girl, who is a nurse in a private hospital, registered a complaint. 

The happening emerged on March 24, Thursday. The survivor, a 22-year-old woman, had allegedly befriended one of the indicted, Rajath, on a dating app and met him for dinner at a hotel on New BEL Road. Afterward, Rajath reportedly asked her to his room, which he conveyed with three others. As per her objection, after she went to his room, all four youths reportedly handled arches and raped her.

All the four charged were in their earlier twenties, identified as Rajath, Shiv Rana, Dev Saroha, and Yogesh Kumar, hailing from Delhi. They were reportedly training in the city and are now sent to judicial charge.

According to information, the target, who came from West Bengal, said that she was also assaulted. She desired help in the earlier hours of Friday by contacting her friends and was saved after they pivoted up at the house. She then pointed out a criticism with the Sanjaynagar police after in the day. 

Reportedly, police authorities have said that a medical examination of the target has proved sexual abuse and rape. Rajath and Shiv Rana had reportedly been in the city for the last three months, renting the room where the crime occurred. Their friends Dev Saroha and Yogesh Kumar had entered them a week ago for swimming training in the city.

The accused were reportedly on the run after they knew of the police protest. Yet, a special team was developed to nab the four, and they were arrested from various regions of the Karnataka capital.

A news website said that Rajath was trying to escape the city and was arrested at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, while another accused was confined near Basavanagudi, and the two others were confined near Chickpet. 

A case has been registered under Section 376 D (Gangrape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and an additional investigation is in headway.
