Kerala, the southernmost state of India, has emerged as one of the best and overall performers according to the Niti Aayog Health Index for the fourth consecutive year. The Aayog has prepared the report based on the base year of 2018-19, and 2019-20 to plan for the next year. Kerala got the top position in overall health performance as per the fourth Health Index introduced by the Niti Aayog of India. It’s the fourth consecutive round in which Kerala has emerged as the best state in providing the best health services to its citizens in overall health performance. The second and third position goes to Tamil Nadu and Telangana respectively. The poll-bound state “Uttar Pradesh” has been detected as the worst performer in providing better health services, but the state topped the incremental performance list. According to the report, Uttar Pradesh has registered the highest incremental change from the base year of 2018-19 to 2019-20, the reference year. Bihar and MP are placed at second and third positions respectively as worst performers. Despite achieving the top positions, Kerala and TN got 12th and 18th positions respectively in terms of incremental performance. However, Telangana performed very well as it was successful in taking the third position in both the lists/categories. If we talk about smaller states, then we find that the Mizoram emerged as one of the best performers in overall performance as well as incremental too. In UT’s, Delhi and Jammu Kashmir are at the bottom in overall performance but they are in the top list of incremental performance. This 4th round of the health index is considered for the period between 2019 and 2020. The report is prepared by considering 24 key indicators related to health performance, smooth governance and information inputs.

The Army chief “MM Narvane” has entrusted the charge of Chief of Defence Staff Committee’s Chairman (CoSC) The Government of India has started the search operation for the next Chief of Defence Staff as the seat for the top defence post is vacant following the tragic demise of the first CDS of India Gen. Bipin Rawat in the helicopter accident last week. The Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh has given an indication that the process to search India’s new chief of defence staff has begun and the name will be announced very soon. In a meeting organized by the Govt of India and the defence forces chief, MM Narvane who is appointed as the Chairman, Chief of Staff Committee (CoSC). Narvane is the senior-most chief of all the three service chiefs. About the Career of Late CDS Late General Bipin Rawat was a dedicated and top defence officer and the principal advisor to the Defence Minister. He served as the 27th Army Chief from 31st of Dec, 2016 till Dec 31, 2019. He was taken the charge of the first CDS of India on January 1, 2020. The age limit required for the post of CDS is 35 years and there is no fixed tenure is defined. General MM Narvane was is currently serving as the 28th Army Chief from General Bipin Rawat on December 31, 2019. The Air Force and the Navy have also seen a change in their respective top posts with VR Chaudhary and Admiral R Hari Kumar as their chief marshal respectively. About the Post of CDS The Chief of Defence Staff serves as the head of all the three services be it Military, Naval Command and Air Force. He also works as the principal advisor to the Defence Minister. All the three forces report to this top officer and he reports to the Defence Minister for all the activities and future goals.
