Mr. Arvind Kejriwal; the chief minister of the national capital inaugurated a fleet of electric auto-rickshaws from the IP Depot; the largest Bus Depot in Asia located in New Delhi on Thursday in the gracious presence of Mr. Kailash Gahlot.
While a media briefing and addressing delegates presented there, the CM said that Delhi is one of its kind and has the largest number of auto-rickshaws in the country. He further said that about 3500 people will drive these electric autos in the capital including 500 women drivers. It will employ about 3500 people. He also added that people are purchasing E-vehicles very rapidly. On average, about 10% of the total vehicles sold this year are electric.
In his recent tweet written in Hindi, Sh Arvind Kejriwal greeted the citizens of Delhi to have e-autos on the roads of the national capital and started plying on the same day just after the flagging-off ceremony. He said in a tweet that he has personally handed (RCs) registration certificates to about twenty auto drivers. Women drivers also participate in the same. His tweet said that thousands of electric autos will run on the roads of Delhi very soon. We are collectively fighting against pollution.
About Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy
The EV policy of Delhi is created with the aim to promote electric vehicles and the government is also encouraging people to purchase E-vehicles instead of petrol and diesel-based motors.
The Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy was made to enhance the quality of air in the city through a goal to register at least 25% of all vehicles by 2024 in the electric segment.
